Set high atop a sunny Santa Monica Mountains ridge line, it's vineyards are the source of their signature Cielo Estate wines and the Woodstock Collection of fine wines.

A Family’s Love Of Wine
Owned and operated by the Hirsh family since 1999, patron, Richard Hirsh’s love of wine, his expertise and his attention to detail has resulted in today’s exemplary vintages, and the fact that today, the vineyard pours some of the very best wines created in the Malibu Coast A.V.A.
Prior to founding the vineyard, Richard along with his wife and late brother Bill enjoyed a deep love of wine with a special appreciation of the French wines from the Bordeaux region, thus setting the scene for a new chapter in their lives. While on a bike ride in the Santa Monica Mountains, Richard fell in love with a hillside property which he eventually purchased to build a home for his family. Then, Inspired by the similarity of this landscape to that of Tuscany, the Hirsh’s decided to use the construction fill dirt to plant a few grape vines.
A Vineyard Grows
From this humble beginning and with further experimentation, more varietals were planted and a vineyard was created. Meticulous stewardship of the land, combined with a locale benefiting from the Southern California coastal sunshine and enhanced by the moist Pacific Ocean breezes, have proven to be a formula for success. Today, Cielo’s harvest is shipped to Napa Valley for processing and bottling and visitors can enjoy over 20 wines, available at the vineyard, online and distributed regionally.
The Barn, Malibu’s Most Exclusive Tasting Experience
Cielo has recently opened The Barn, their exclusive Malibu wine tasting experience, where guests can taste wine by the flight or bottle and purchase wines to go. The Barn is open to the public by reservation only from 11AM to 6:30 PM daily with the purchase of a one day Wine Club membership Choose from four distinct experiences that range from tastings to a deeper dive into the art of wine making. Sip and savor the wines in the olive garden surrounding The Barn as gentle breezes waft up from the Pacific lifting hawks high above the vineyard. Tours of the 30 acres of vines overlooking the heart of the Malibu Wine District are also available.
